A neutral reference for common terms found in peptide laboratory reports and Certificates of Analysis. Each term should be interpreted within the scope of the identified sample and the tests explicitly reported.
A chromatographic result describing the relative detected response assigned to a reported component under the stated analysis. It does not by itself establish identity, net content, sterility or endotoxin status.
Testing intended to assess whether measured characteristics are consistent with the compound named in the report. Identity is a separate analytical question from chromatographic purity.
An analytical technique that measures ions according to mass-to-charge characteristics. Where a laboratory reports it, mass spectrometry may contribute identity evidence, but its purpose and conclusion should be read from that specific report.
Testing intended to report the quantity of material in the identified sample. A purity percentage is not a substitute for a separately reported net-content result.
A distinct test category for a stated endotoxin result. No endotoxin conclusion should be inferred when the report does not list such testing.
A distinct test category recorded only when it is performed and reported. Purity or identity data do not establish a sterility result.
An identifier used to distinguish the specific group or sample to which the document relates. Results should remain connected to the batch or lot shown.
The date associated with the reported analysis. Read it together with the compound name, strength, batch identifier and report details.
A laboratory document recording sample information, tests and results for identified material. Its scope is limited to what the document actually reports.
The source document containing the laboratory’s recorded information, analytical entries and conclusions for the identified sample.
A reported result is an entry the laboratory document explicitly associates with a listed test. If a test category is absent, blank or described as not performed, it should not be treated as having a result.
Do not infer an unreported identity, net-content, endotoxin or sterility outcome from a purity figure or from another test category.
Use the related guides for more context, then compare terminology with the entries shown on the original laboratory document.
Educational laboratory reference only. It does not replace the original report or support conclusions beyond the tests, sample and batch information explicitly documented.
